Rude Awakening, Round 2: Rudy talks DU-CC rivalry

It’s Gold Pan week, and that makes it a good time for another Rude Awakening with DU senior Rudy Junda. Come to think of it, when isn’t it a good time for a Rude Awakening?

At any rate, this time Rudy riffs on the DU-CC rivalry, and how special it is to him as a native Coloradoan. Rudy’s family had Denver season tickets when he was growing up, so the memories of this rivalry in particular are vivid.

“You always circled the CC game,” he said. “It was awesome watching it, the Gold Pan rivalry. It means a lot in the community. So it means a lot to me personally, whenever I get to play CC it’s really special because I grew up watching DU-CC. I’m really grateful to be playing those guys.”

Rudy also reminisces about one of the most memorable DU-CC meetings – the Battle on Blake at Coors Field two seasons ago, and he (and I) lobby for a return of the vintage DU and CC sweaters.

He also talks about one of the most important things a college student on break can keep in mind – Rest is a weapon.
