Denver Hockey Adds Two High-Level Transfers for 2024-25

Fresh off of its NCAA-record 10th national championship, Denver will add two potential impact players through the transfer portal.

Defenseman Eric Pohlkamp, who played his freshman season at Bemidji State, and forward Sam Salminen, who originally committed to DU then spent two seasons at Connecticut, apparently are heading to the Pioneers next season.

Pohlkamp, a fifth-round pick of the San Jose Sharks in 2023, had 24 points (including 11 goals) in 32 games for the Beavers. He also played for Team USA’s gold-medal-winning team at the 2024 World Junior Championships with current Pioneer Zeev Buium and coach David Carle.

Salminen, a third-round pick of the New Jersey Devils in 2021, had 17 points in each of his first two seasons for the Huskies. The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
