It has just kept getting better for Denver junior right wing Troy Terry.
The native of Highlands Ranch, just south of Denver, grew up cheering for the Pioneers and playing youth hockey for the Littleton Hawks and Colorado Thunderbirds. After playing a season at the prestigious U.S. National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor Michigan, Terry began is college career in 2015, helping the Pioneers reach the Frozen Four the following April.
He emerged as a prime-time player last season – helping Team USA win gold in the World Junior Championships with a series of shootout goals to topple first Russia then host Canada in the medal round. He returned to Denver and put up five points in his first game back, and he and the team kept rolling – all the way to DU’s eighth NCAA championship last April in Chicago, where they vanquished NCHC foe Minnesota-Duluth.
This season, Terry will wear an assistant captain’s “A” for the Pioneers and he’s considered a strong candidate to play for Team USA again early in 2018 – this time in the Olympic Games in South Korea.
Terry graciously took time to talk recently for this Magness Mayhem Moment.
