Junior Adam Plant has been a mainstay on Denver’s blue line ever since he arrived on campus. He plays in every situation and frequently joins DU captain Will Butcher in the top pairing or teams up with fellow junior Tariq Hammond to form another shutdown tag team.

We saucered some sweet feeds to the native of Penticton, British Columbia, which he hammered in this edition of One-Timers.

Canada recently celebrated Thanksgiving. What are you thankful for?

First off, my family. They’ve always been there for me, supported me and picked me up whenever I was down. Then my teammates and coaches. I’m privileged to play here.

It’s election season, so who on the Pioneers gets your vote for President (or Prime Minister)?

Will Butcher is the kind of leader you’d want. There are some guys I definitely wouldn’t want, however.

What was the highlight of your summer?

The whole summer break. I went home, and it was nice being around family and friends. I miss them when I’m away for nine months. I got to see some friends I don’t see as much any more. A couple are playing in the WHL or playing CIS (Canadian college hockey) and a few in the NCAA. I worked at the Okanagan Hockey Academy again.

Do you have a favorite hockey player?

Duncan Keith of the Chicago Blackhawks. I’ve gotten to skate with him a few times because he’s from Penticton. I see him at the rink there all the time.

Are you particular about any of your gear?

My shin pads. I tape up the bottom to keep them tight to my ankles. And definitely my skates. I have to keep them sharp. I’m sure Nick Meldrum thinks I’m a pain.

Do you have a favorite Halloween costume?

A ghillie suit like snipers wear so they look like a bush? That one is pretty entertaining.

Who is the Pioneers’ comedian?

Packy (Munson, redshirt goalie). He’s pretty opinionated, and he’s generally wrong. But he’ll never admit that.

Are you a music guy?

Yeah. I like country the most, especially Florida-Georgia Line and Cole Swindell

What is the breakfast of champions?

Scrambled eggs in a wrap with hashbrowns and cheese.

What is your top memory at DU so far?

Going to the Frozen Four last year and seeing how we got treated. The whole experience, flying on a private plane, was amazing. Hopefully we finish the job this season.

What is one thing we don’t know about Monty that we should?

He has a horrible laugh, and it was revealed at the NCHC media day when Will brought it up.

Who has a better mullet, Jaromir Jagr or Evan Janssen?

I’d have to go with Jagr. It was pretty impressive that he was able to grow it back. Janny’s is solid, but Jagr’s better.

Do you have a favorite sport other than hockey?

Soccer. I grew up playing it, and a lot of my friends grew playing it and a lot still do.

Thank you, Adam!
