Cast in the role of fourth-line center, junior Matt Marcinew is finding his way to the scoresheet an unprecedented pace so far for the Pioneers. His five goals in eight games already have tied a career high, and he takes a two-game goal streak in this weekend’s series at Duluth.

We teed up some sweet feeds for him after a recent DU practice.

First, a guest question from Mayhem Junior … What’s your favorite superfood? It’s gotta be salmon.

Go-to pregame meal? Chicken Parm you taste so good. Fried chicken and pasta.

Favorite hockey player? There’s so many of them. I like (Marian) Gaborik. Patrick Kane is unbelievable some of the stuff he does. (Steven) Stamkos, he’s a righty shooter. Ovechkin, he’s another righty. So let’s go with Stamkos, the Hammer.

Craziest goal you’ve ever witnessed? Must be Ovechkin’s where he is on his back. … I mean Ty Loney had a pretty nice one last year. It was a highlight reel goal in the playoffs. But probably Ovechkin’s. Some of the stuff Sid (Crosby) was doing before he got that first concussion was unbelievable, too.

Favorite arena rock song? I like Lil’ Wayne. Nolan’s got me on the Lil’ Wayne train now. I started doing that. I like listening to country when I’m not playing hockey though.

When you need a good laugh in the locker room, who do you turn to? Maybe Grant (Arnold)? I don’t know, who’s a clown? Luko (Jarid Lukosevicius). He’s pretty dumb so you can always count him to say something stupid.

Favorite sport other than hockey? Lacrosse

The breakfast of champions is? Steak and eggs

Do you play fantasy football? Oh yeah. I hate that I like it because I never used to be into it but these guys asked me to play it and now it’s all I could talk about. I wish I didn’t play fantasy but I do.

You already had one Thanksgiving to celebrate, how about the next one? Are you going to double dip? Yeah, for sure. Me and the Canadian guys went out for a nice little dinner for the first one. I’m debating going home for this next one, but if not I’ll probably go to Brad Hawkinson’s for dinner. Thanksgiving’s huge, you gotta go for those good meals.

What are you thankful for? My good health, my family No. 1.
