When Denver hockey fans last saw Trevor Moore, the skilled forward was part of the prolific Pacific Rim Line that helped the Pioneers reach the Frozen Four in Tampa, Fla., in 2016.
Moore tied his career high with 44 points during the 2015-16, teaming with Danton Heinen and Dylan Gambrell to form a nearly unstoppable trio (139 points in 41 games). That summer, he signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs and spent last season and the start of this season with their American Hockey League affiliate across town, the Marlies.
He debuted with 33 points (13 goals) in 57 games and added four more points in 11 playoff games.
Despite playing just three seasons for DU, Moore finished his career tied for 52nd in points on the Pioneers’ all-time list (120, including 47 goals). Along the way he was the program’s freshman of the year in 2014, when he 32 points in 42 games, and an All-American in 2015, when he scored 22 goals among his 44 points.
He took time before the start of his second season of pro hockey to reflect on his transition to the pros, what it’s like to play in hockey-mad Toronto and his strong ties to Denver and the DU hockey program.
We hope you enjoy this alumni update with Trevor.
Trevor Moore is now wearing #9 for the Marlies. Last year he wore #46. Trevor wore #8 at DU, but Gabe Levin was wearing DU’s traditional California #9.
I didn’t sense he was optimistic about making the Leafs this year,
