Top-ranked Denver Dominates Yale, 6-0

Twelve Denver players registered points, and senior goaltender Matt Davis pitched a shutout in a 6-0 victory over Yale at New Haven, Conn., on Friday night.

Sophomore Eric Pohlkamp led the onslaught with two goals and an assist, while defense partner Boston Buckberger and freshman center Jake Fisher added a goal and assist each for the top-ranked Pioneers (7-0-0).

Davis stopped all 22 shots by the Bulldogs (0-1-0). It was his first shutout of the season.

DU pulled away to a 4-0 lead in the second period thanks to a goal each by the aforementioned trio of skaters.

Junior Regier Lorenz staked the Pionners to a first-period lead with his first goal of the season, while captain Carter King struck for his sixth of the campaign and Pohlkamp added his fourth in the third period.

Denver outshot the hosts 31-22 and dominated in the circle, winning 32 of 50 faceoffs (64 percent).
