Friday’s announcement of the hiring of David Carle as Denver’s ninth hockey coach awakened Magness Mayhem’s Chris Bayee and Let’s Go DU’s Nick Tremaroli from their offseason slumber.
Carle’s hiring makes him, at 28, the youngest coach in NCAA Division I hockey, but he’s no stranger to coaching, a vocation he began nearly 10 years ago when his playing career was cut short by a previously undetected heart condition. He spent the past four and a half seasons as one of Montgomery’s assistants, a year and a half as a USHL assistant after four seasons as a student assistant for the Pioneers.
The Let’s Go DU-Magness Mayhem tag team discussed Carle’s hire, which came three weeks to the day of the Dallas Stars’ announcement of the hiring of Jim Montgomery to be their head coach, and its ramifications on the Pioneers program.
We hope you enjoy this. T
