No. 5 Denver can claim the most players on the all-NCHC first and second teams for the 2017-18 season.
Sophomore center Henrik Borgström and senior goaltender Tanner Jaillet were first-team picks, while junior forwards Dylan Gambrell and Troy Terry made the second team.
No other NCHC team had more than two players among the top two teams, which were voted on by NCHC coaches.
Jaillet repeated on the first team after going 12-5-5 in conference play. His 1.91 goals-against average led the NCHC while his four shutouts tied for first. His .928 save percentage was second.
Borgström was the only unanimous selection, and no wonder. The 2016 first-round pick of the Florida Panthers won the league’s scoring title with 33 points in 24 games. His 14 goals were second.
They were joined by Omaha forward David Pope (28 points) and Colorado College forward Nick Halloran (31 points), as well as St. Cloud State defenseman Jimmy Schuldt (23 points, 56 blocks and plus-19) and Minnesota Duluth defenseman Scott Perunovich (24 points, 21 blocks, plus-12).
Gambrell (30 points, plus-15) and Terry (25 points, plus-10) were joined at forward by St. Cloud’s Mikey Eyssimont (26 points, 11 goals), a teammate of Gambrell’s on the Colorado Thunderbirds. Miami’s Louie Belpedio (17 points, 30 blocks) and North Dakota’s Christian Wolanin (23 points, 27 blocks) were the defensemen and Minnesota Duluth freshman Hunter Shepard (13-10-0, 2.23 GAA, .915, four shutouts) was the goaltender.
Gambrell and Borgstrom were second-team picks a season ago, while Terry was an honorable mention choice.
