One night after upsets at the hands of Ohio State and Air Force, No. 3 Denver will play No. 5 Boston College in the consolation game of the Ice Breaker Tournament at Magness Arena.
Here are three things to watch for:
Who gets to the net
Both teams struggled for the most part getting scoring chances in the prime real estate in front of the net. DU coach Jim Montgomery made a point of saying the Pioneers need to do a better job forechecking and getting to the net. Bank on that being a teaching point when they reviewed film on Saturday.

Boston College showed tremendous speed and made many clean zone exits and entries, particularly in the first two periods, against Air Force. Ohio State had quite a bit of success doing this vs. DU as well. If the Pioneers can execute better in this department – both with and defending the puck – it will portend to success.
Are you experienced?
The Eagles are dressing 11 freshmen, including their goalie and four defensemen, and three more sophomores, including a D, meaning they have 14 underclassmen in their lineup. The Pioneers are dressing 11 underclassmen but also six seniors. Will the extra the experience pay dividends in the form of more composure than their guests?
